Scientific Theories That Contradict Reality
The list of creepy scientific theories below is sure to stress you out and make you question your existence.
We are part of a mysterious universe. People are always surrounded by inexplicable happenings. And certain questions haunt us as we continue to live our mundane lives. There are several theories and thoughts that we could choose to dwell on or otherwise choose to ignore. After all, ignorance is bliss.
The list of creepy scientific theories below is sure to stress you out and make you question your existence.
1). The sixth mass extinction
It is believed that since the birth of the Earth, there have been five mass extinctions so far. Events were so catastrophic that they wiped out almost 75% of the earth’s population. The last extinction event is believed to have occurred about 443 million years ago and wiped out 60–70% of all species.
Many researchers and scientists believe that we humans are in the early or middle stages of the sixth mass extinction (although some theories say there have been at least 20 such events, not just five), with humans counting the causes of our demise as we pollute the planet, reap more than we sow, destroy the habitats and natural populations of other animals, and make the Earth less hospitable.
2). The Great Filter
Like many other theories, the Great Filter is a key theory in evolutionary studies. This particular theory questions our abilities, achievements, and potential as humans, forcing us to question whether we are on a path to the survival and advancement of our species, or headed for the exit.
The theory suggests that all species progress until they reach a key defining point in their evolution and succeed or die. It is said that no species on Earth has ever passed the Filter. This belief leaves us with three possibilities which are:
A). We have passed the Great Filter stage and will continue to progress and one day our species may learn to harness the energy of the stars.
