Operation high jump is one of the most controversial in history, officially called "The United States Navy Antarctic Developments Program", being organized by American Admiral Richard E. Byrd
This operation began on August 26, 1946, and lasted until 1947, deploying an impressive military force: 13 ships, 26 aircraft, and 5,000 men. Among these ships were the aircraft carrier USS Philippine Sea, the military submarine USS Sennet and two destroyers: USS Brownson and USS Henderson.
