Unidentified Flying Objects, or UFOs as they are commonly known, have been witnessed by millions of people around the world and have been recorded in history books, myths, legends and longstanding traditions.

However, many stories that are recorded in ancient texts are considered mere myths and legends, while UFO sightings that have occurred in recent centuries have been classified as misinterpretations of natural phenomena, illusions or directly, as Conspiracy theories.

History has shown us time and time again that a large number of the so-called “myths” have their basis in reality.

It is possible, and even likely, that the stories and legends were a way to explain reality and puzzling events using the knowledge and beliefs of their time.

In support of this theory, a series of events described in mythology, once considered mere fairy tales, have now been shown through archeology to have existed.

A famous example is the city of Troy , the main city in Homer ‘s ‘ The Iliad ‘.

Long considered a mythical city, Heinrich Schliemann ‘s discovery of the actual site in 1868 elevated it to a place in history. However, the rest of the Iliad continues to be viewed as myth and fantasy without any serious attempt being made to investigate whether or not there may be more truth behind the story.

The same is true of many accounts of ‘flying machines’, which we find referenced in countless mythologies from many different cultures around the world.

It is common to see people selectively decide what is real and what is not, and all this on the unfounded assumption that ancient people were primitive and had little to no knowledge compared to us.

By contrast, many ancient civilizations such as the Sumerians and Egyptians existed with complex social structures, legal systems, art, astronomy, mathematics, and technology, some of which is still not fully understood today.

Stories about supernatural objects and beings flying in our world are found in multiple references in mythologies.

Unfortunately, there are numerous charlatans who have tried to cash in on this movement for profit or publicity, resulting in the ancient astronaut perspective continuing to be widely criticized and attacked for its lack of credibility.

Consequently, what might indeed be a plausible and possible explanation for what we see in ancient art and texts is now rarely examined by scholars, who fear being ridiculed or seriously undermined in their professional career.

UFO sightings in recent history

But let’s leave the ancient past for a while and examine just the last 80 years of human history.

Millions of people around the world have witnessed the unidentified flying objects. Many have been recorded in detailed reports witnessed by police, astronauts, government officials, pilots, military personnel and, of course, ordinary citizens.
